Dear readers,
When we talk about etiquette, we often cast a lot of light on the importance of being polite with the most refined manners possible, while leaving out the importance of maintaining good hygiene.
Good hygiene is essential not only for our health, but also for our personal image. Research has shown that it takes no more than 7 seconds to make a first impression which usually stays embedded in people’s minds for many months to come, if not forever.
Coughing or sneezing into the air, shaking hands with unkept, dirty nails or grabbing food with bare hands rather than utensils are all examples of small, yet important details that can make or break the first impression we exude.
When I talk about this topic, many people fear that their clothes and other material possessions are not luxurious enough to make a good first impression. But there is no need to worry as people mostly remember how others made them feel rather than what they wore. After all, wouldn’t you rather meet a person with proper manners dressed in high-street fashion, rather than a person draped in the latest haute couture whose behaviour is demeaning and disrespectful?
Let's remember - first impression matters and it is up to us whether it will be a good or a bad one.
I wish you all a beautiful day,
Yours sincerely,
Katarina
